CEO - Cotswold Fayre & Flourish, Author "Forces for Good" & "The Fourth Bottom Line", B Corp Ambassador, Key Note Speaker
As you know I am passionate about sustainability, so am very pleased that The Independent newspaper has picked up on our efforts in this area in their recent Business Reporter series. We were the first UK wholesaler to be B Corp UK certified back in 2015 and, as far as I am aware, we are still the only certified Carbon Neutral wholesaler with a clear plan towards Net Zero by 2030. There is still much more to do, but our social and environmental excellence costs us well into six figures per year, which we think is important. The challenge for us is that not enough of our retail customers are of a similar mind, and still choose to buy products and deal with other wholesalers with little or no sustainability credentials. The landscape is changing, however, and it is our belief that consumers will drive the transformation and demand that retailers up their game. Cotswold Fayre, a certified B Corporation can help retailers do this through our expertise and knowledge. The big questions are: 🍏 How important is sustainability to consumers with the current cost of living crisis? 🍏 How quickly will retailers make sustanability their No. 1 factor in buying decsisions? What are your thoughts? Are you encouraged or depressed by the speed of movement? To watch the full video, click here: https://lnkd.in/eFmzJcDJ

Retailer turned Entrepreneur working on building and contributing to the Sheep and Goat Ecosystem in India
#Customerstories Had the chance to be with a Top Retailer in the Supermarket space who also happens to have a Meat and Seafood Division that is integral to their Store network. Was quite surprised to know that the company does not ascertain /does not have a method to calculate the day wise P&L statement of the Mutton category. This is is an experience which is quite common in the meat trade. Carcass Utilisation and yield test is critical to understand the right product specification for your network of customers. Most Purchase departments stick to maintaining a fixed weight category purely based on an assumption called tenderness would solve the problem. However categorising the buying based on 3 aspects is critical. 1.Yield 2.Cultural Preference 3.SKU sales pattern

Not all shipments are equal. 🍒 We run a LOT of produce. And produce in and of itself is more complex than our standard food and beverage loads. There are more nuances to the origin locations, most loads are multi-pick or multi-drop, and of course it is all perishable foods on a timeline. However there are some produce types that take a special kind of attention. Berries, cherries, stone fruit, and some other produce commodities we transport are much higher dollar and easily perishable. We have to take maximum precaution with these shipments. One of the best things we can do to ensure success on these loads is to strictly stick to our core carrier base. Our core carriers are our most consistent and often longest standing relationships. We know their service is reliable and second to none. We also take into consideration partners we know are operating newer equipment. With high value perishable goods the last thing we want to run across is a breakdown. We ensure these carriers are also running with $250k cargo coverage, as the value of these loads almost always exceeds the standard $100k cargo. These steps are taken to ensure the highest chances of success and prevention of unfortunate incidents that might jeopardize the product or leave someone with a costly claim. Heaven forbid we do have an issue with the load our relationships with these carriers allows us to work to a resolution quickly. What are some of the more complex loads you handle? Produce or non produce? What steps do you have to take to ensure their success? #operations #transportation #trucking #logistics #supplychain #produce #foodandbev
